Booksellers Say Black Friday Weekend is just a Warm Up

While retail pundits like to point to Black Friday—the day after Thanksgiving and the official start of the holiday shopping season—as a barometer of the health of the upcoming holiday season, booksellers downplayed the importance of the weekend, noting the the weeks around Christmas are more significant to their success. Though no books dominated sales over the weekend, the title mentioned most often was Ken Follett’s Pillars of the Earth.
