December is one of the best representations of multiculturalism I can think of.  People all over the world celebrate in one way or another during this month.  Hanukkah is an eight day celebration, known as the Festival of Lights, which commemorates the re-dedication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.  Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration which honors African Heritage.  Christmas is a one day celebration that marks and honors the birth of Jesus. Each of these holidays have their own symbols  and their own traditions, but much of the celebrations center around feasting and gift giving.
