Don Schmidt is eleven years old and lives on Horse Island with his eccentric parents who don’t seem to care much about him. He used to have a sister named Dawn who was a wonderful dancer. There isn’t much to do on Horse Island except spend time with his chickens or play with friends and Don is not very popular. Then the annual Chicken Judging Contest comes around and Don goes from being a nobody to the town celebrity. However everything is not what it seems, as Don discovers secrets within his own family. Is his sister really dead and who is the mysterious boy on the birth certificate? Mystery and humor combine in this wacky story.
