And here is a listing of essential WWII reading from the same source. The five books on this list are all non-fiction, but probably worth plowing through.

There are so many excellent books about the origins, battles and aftermath of World War II that we could not include them all. This is an essential reading list of the war in Europe and Africa from D-Day to Liberation. Of course, Stephen Ambrose, Cornelius Ryan, and Rick Atkinson have written many more brilliant books you should also include in your mess kit.
