I truly enjoy having an opportunity to give books away. This month is one of those lucky months where I get to have two giveaways for two very different reasons. The first giveaway this month was the Dads and Grads Giveaway and I’m now announcing the second one! Let’s call this one, unofficially, the Take a Mini-Vacation Book Giveaway, because that’s what I hope the winners will do with this set of books. What I really want you to do with these books is take a mini-vacation from the hustle and bustle of your life. Summer may be a busy time to do this because the kids are out of school, we plan vacations that leave us feeling we need a vacation from our vacations and we have to balance it all with our jobs. My favorite place to read is in the bathroom. I can do what needs to be done, enjoy whatever book I am reading at the time and no one bothers me.
My favorite place to read is outside under the patio cover in the backyard, with the ceiling fans on and nobody around! Very relaxing & peaceful. Now, I only need a pool! LOL
On the porch in the early warmer autumn, with hot tea and at least to books to go back and forth.
My favorite place to read is the library on my college campus during fall or winter, when there is a cool breeze blowing and snow, leaves, or a light rain is falling outside the window as I overlook the courtyard below. There is something so surreal and beautiful about being surrounded by so much knowledge, thousands of books and stories, and people who love learning. As countless students travel before me as they make their way through their own stories, the trees below, the people passing, and the stillness of it all reminds me of the beauty, joy, heartache, pain, determination, laughter, hope, complexity, and simplicity of humanity all at the same time.
As I sit comfortably with a book in one hand and a grande white chocolate mocha in the other, I can see these things that all good stories are ultimately about, and I smile.
My favorite place is my front porch swing watching the river flow by as I enter another world that only books will take me.
This isn’t original but a bath. It’s usually the only time I can get to focus on the story. The beach and by the pool are close runner ups.
