I truly enjoy having an opportunity to give books away. This month is one of those lucky months where I get to have two giveaways for two very different reasons. The first giveaway this month was the Dads and Grads Giveaway and I’m now announcing the second one! Let’s call this one, unofficially, the Take a Mini-Vacation Book Giveaway, because that’s what I hope the winners will do with this set of books. Officially, this is the Summer Beach Bag Books Giveaway, sponsored by Hachette Book Group.
What I really want you to do with these books is take a mini-vacation from the hustle and bustle of your life. Summer may be a busy time to do this because the kids are out of school, we plan vacations that leave us feeling we need a vacation from our vacations and we have to balance it all with our jobs. And with the economy the way it is, we may not even get that vacation at all. What better way to take a little time out than taking a good book on a little mini-vacation?

I have a great old large wing chair with a soft linen slip cover, a footstool and a large polarfleece throw in my master bedroom. I sneek in there, close the door, and can get lost for hours. My second favorite place is on a swing on a porch looking out on the ocean. I always spend our beach week reading. The house we rent has a large screened porch with a giant swing full of pillows.
I love to read in bed with a nice cup of hot tea (or slushie if the weather is hot).

I love to read outside on my comfy chair on the porch or on my raft floating around the pool.
I can only read in bed because that is my “quiet” place- even if the TV is on. I can read more calmly while laying in bed with some iced sweet tea!

My favorite place to read is my computer room because it’s better lit than anywhere else. Also there’s candy nearby.
In the summer, it’s outdoors, in a lounge chair, by the pool. The kids are splashing and I’m relaxing! Most times though, it’s curled up in the corner of my couch.

I like to read in the bathtub.
I like to read in my recliner by the fireplace. In the summer I put candles in the fireplace instead of a fire. I love the atmosphere. Its a stone fireplace and the room has tongue and groove walls. Its warm and inviting.
My one and only favorite place to read is curled up in bed, with a big feather pillow and cuddly blanket! I’ve read in bed my entire life and love it lol

Honestly, my favorite place to read is by my daughter’s bedside at night. She is learning to read(and doing quite well I might add!) so in the evenings we each get a book and our booklights and read till bedtime. My favorite place to read is on the sofa, under a “blankie,” in the family room. Natural light comes in over my shoulder (at least in the daytime lol) and it’s a very comfy place to be.
I love to read outside in the evening, as dusk is setting in and the air is cooling off, with a tall glass of iced tea.

I really love to read in my big cushy recliner with my brass floor lamp right on the side of it.
I spend as much time as I can reading on my screen porch. When it gets too cold, nothing beats my big comfy couch, a book and a cup of tea!
I love reading on the train on my commute home … I know it’s not the most comfy place, or the most quiet, but with the proper music on, I can tune out the world and lose myself in a book.

My favorite place to read is in the car – because its the only time I get to read! I sit in my car and read during my lunch hour from work.
I love reading everywhere: while sitting in traffic jams, standing in line at the bank/post office, at the stove waiting for water to boil, waiting in doctor’s office, etc. But my favorite place is in the window seat at home with a cup of hot cocoa while my husband is rubbing my feet.
My favourite place to read on my bed with the covers off because I want to stay awake. If the book is a page turner, I obviously will not fall asleep no matter how comfortable I am.
I love reading in my bed at the end of the day after my kids have gone to bed. Ceiling fan, cup of water and some big pillows. Love it.
Before kids, when I was working, my favorite place was in my car at lunch time. I loved going outside, the quiet of the car, with the window either up or down depending on the weather and just me with my seat back. The worst part was trying not to fall asleep because I had to get back to work in an hour.

I end the day reading in bed. It’s quiet and I can read while the rest of the house is finely quiet. During the summer though, I do like to sit and read in the backyard.
There is no better place for me to read than at my friend’s cottage where where I can unplug from “day-to-day” life and just get lost in a book.

I love to read sitting on a bench and listening to the water from the brook rush by at the Shaker Lakes Nature Center.
My favorite outdoor place to read is on my porch swing in the back yard. It’s very quiet and shady there and I’m surrounded by flowers. The only noise is the occasional tweeting bird! I hope someday my husband will build us a gazebo there and it will be perfect!

Behind our house is nothing but woods besides the train tracks that run a little further back. There is a huge flat rock in the shade that is comfy & private under a big old Oak Tree with nothing but nature around unless the train sounds in the distance =) It’s beautiful, quiet & sometimes I see deer, & rabbits running around. This is my special reading place!!!

My favorite place to read is any and everywhere. Seriously. I like to read on the Metro and on the bus. I like to read at the pool. I like to read waiting in line, sitting on my front porch, or propped up in bed under the covers. I like to read in the bathroom, in the tub, on the sofa, at the kitchen table, and in a big open space (like a field or park) where people are gathered. I like to read, period. Ah – a nice hot bath, even in the summer, and read for an hour or more until the water is cool. I am now 66 and have been doing that since I am 14 when I really started to read for myself and not just what was required for school.
My favorite place to read is in bed before I go to sleep. This is an old habit from my school days when the only time I had to do pleasure reading was in the last 1/2 hr or hour before bedtime.

I hope you don’t mind, I have two favorites. For me, my love of reading can be done just about anywhere. However, my favorite place when I am home, is upstairs in my soft glider rocker. It has oversized plush cushions with a chanel throw over it. I put my feet up on the ottoman and read endlessly.
When I am up north, my love for the outdoors rivals that of my love of reading. What better way to enjoy the fresh country air than to sit on a porch swing and read. I find that one of the most enjoyable ways to read.

I read at work during lunch, at home while I’m waiting for dinner to cook and the kids are occupied with their friends or games, at the beach on a beautiful day with a nice breeze blowing over me, at night while curled up on my bed…every opportunity to read and I cannot understand how anyone uses audio books because it is so much better when you read the words to get caught up in the story.
Nothing is better than cozying up on the couch with a big fuzzy blanket and a book that is so well written you simply can’t put it down until you have finished the whole darned thing

Snuggled in my overstuffed chocolate & umber paisley print chair is my daily destination for reading. Even in the summer I love to sit near the Old Chicago brick fireplace.The entire south wall is bricked with the exception of two double casement windows flanking the fireplace. My chair in the fireplace room(living room/great room)is the starter of my daily journey.
This isn’t original but a bath. It’s usually the only time I can get to focus on the story. The beach and by the pool are close runner ups.

My favorite place to read is the library on my college campus during fall or winter, when there is a cool breeze blowing and snow, leaves, or a light rain is falling outside the window as I overlook the courtyard below. There is something so surreal and beautiful about being surrounded by so much knowledge, thousands of books and stories, and people who love learning. As countless students travel before me as they make their way through their own stories, the trees below, the people passing, and the stillness of it all reminds me of the beauty, joy, heartache, pain, determination, laughter, hope, complexity, and simplicity of humanity all at the same time.
As I sit comfortably with a book in one hand and a grande white chocolate mocha in the other, I can see these things that all good stories are ultimately about, and I smile.

My favorite place to read is outside under the patio cover in the backyard, with the ceiling fans on and nobody around! Very relaxing & peaceful. Now, I only need a pool! LOL
