Words for Thought: War

by Rachel Baker on September 24, 2009

While reading Man in the Middle by Brian Haig (which, by the way, was a good read), I ran across a passage I felt was worthy of sharing.  I think this paragraph is applicable to current events as the U.S. tries to figure out what action we should take in Afghanistan – scale back or send more troops.

“Bian Tran had taught me something about myself, and if people in Washington were paying attention, she had taught them something as well.

War, they say, is supposed to be an extension on politics by other means; for those fighting it, though, and for those who love them, it becomes an affair not of the mind but of the heart.

Before you open the gates and unleash the dogs of war, it is wise to remember that dogs have minds of their own.”

…just something to think about.
