Its Giveaway Time – Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet

by Rachel Baker on October 7, 2009

The Miami Book Fair International and Random House Publishing House have been kind enough to allow me to give two copies of Jamie Ford’s Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.

The contest: Leave me a comment telling me about a place that you remember from your childhood.  You don’t have to remember the place exactly (like the name or where specifically it was), just the type of place and what you remember.  Here’s an example:  When I was little, my parents packed their three small children in a car for a road trip to New York (from Florida).  I remember it was very very late and we were in the Carolinas looking for a hotel for the evening.  We were unable to find a hotel with any rooms available and my dad made a big deal about the No Vacancy signs – making No Vacancy a fun thing.  He’d put on a funny voice from then on out everytime we drove past a hotel that had a no vacancy sign.  We were very little, so “no vacancy” was a funny family memory, even though at the time, my parents were probably exhausted and frustrated that they couldn’t just get a room and go to sleep.

This giveaway is open to residents in the US and Canada, and will run until 11:59pm on October 23.  On October 25th, I will announce the winners.
