HBO’s MADDADDAM Adaptation: A Dream Cast

So, look, if you haven’t read Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy – you simply must! Seriously, its incredibly well-written (as Atwood’s works tend to be); and the story is an interesting post-apocalyptic tale told about our future world after a pandemic kills off most of humanity.

I am so excited about HBO workign on an adaptation for TV. Thus far, there has been no cast announced, but I did run across this post by Josh Corman at bookriot.com that considers who he thinks would be a dream cast for the show. I have to say, I think I agree with who would make perfect sense…I’m not sure HBO will listen to him, but its certainly better than anything I have. I do, however, suspect these actors may be a bit too big for an HBO series, but we’ll see.

When news broke that Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy would be developed into an HBO series (helmed by Darren Aronofsky, no less), my first thought was: HBO executives have access to my thoughts! They’re reading my mind! And yes, there was some elation sprinkled in there, too. But mainly paranoia. See, last summer, I wrote a piece on this very site that urged HBO to turn the Maddaddam trilogy into a series. The very same books, the very same network. Wishes like this don’t come true very often, my bookish friends, and though it’s possible that the folks at HBO simply know a good idea when they see one, I’m not going to waste a potential opportunity to make MaddAddam the series as perfect as it can be. So here it is, mind stalkers: my MaddAddam dream cast:
